The Ace of Knaves

Leslie Charteris

First Edition

1937

The Ace of Knaves U.S. first edition 1937 by Leslie Charteris is for sale. The Ace of Knaves is a first edition Saint book published for The Crime Club, Inc., by Doubleday Doran & Company Inc. Garden City New York USA in 1937. The Ace of Knaves comes complete with the very attractive original binding and dust jacket.

The Ace of Knaves front of the dust jacket bears a silhouette of The Saint with The Saint stickman logo and the titles in large red letters. The back of the dust jacket gives critiques from such notables as P.G. Wodehouse, the New York Sun, and the Washington News.

The Ace of Knaves dust jacket is in Very Good condition with wear to the top and bottom of the spine; wear to the corners and dust marks.  The dust jacket is in a clear and removable protective sleeve.  This is an exceptionally rare dust jacket in this beautiful condition.

The Ace of Knaves original publisher’s binding is in Near Fine condition with the title and illustration to the spine as fresh as the day the book was published and issued.  There is a knock to one of the corners to the front board at the bottom right corner, and extremely light wear to the top and bottom of the spine making this set of boards in Near Fine condition.

The Ace of Knaves has 296 numbered pages with the top edges tinted red, which are in overall Near Fine condition with browning to the yellow endpapers, a rubber stamp from a previous owner to the front free endpaper, otherwise the pages are exceptionally clean with spotting confined mainly to the edges and only noticeable to the fore edge when the book is closed.
