Tolkien is a wonderful book that contains a huge volume of printed letters from J.R.R. Tolkien that provides a great insight into the man who wrote The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings


Humphrey Carpenter and Christopher Tolkien The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien original brown dust jacket has J.R.R. Tolkien’s initials in gilt to the front of the dust jacket.  The dust jacket is in Near Fine condition with only very slight edge wear which is barely noticeable and only mentioned for completeness.


Humphrey Carpenter and Christopher Tolkien The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien original publisher’s binding have plain front board and back board with gilt lettering running down the spine and are in Fine condition.


Humphrey Carpenter and Christopher Tolkien The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien has 463 numbered pages, top edge tinted brown to match the binding, and with a facsimile letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to the frontispiece dated February 4th 1938.  The pages are in Near Fine condition with only slight marks to the fore edge and bottom edge which are only noticeable when the book is closed.
