The First Edition is selling this Winston S. Churchill two volume book, The World
Crisis 1911 -
In the Preface Winston Churchill writes (in part):
“This book was originally published in four large volumes which appeared at intervals and at a cost that was necessarily beyond the means of many whom I would have been glad to reach…Since the publication of that issue I have submitted the work to considerable revision, and in doing so I have been able to profit by not a little new knowledge. In especial I have been able to give a more correct account of the circumstances attending Lord Fisher’s resignation and a much fuller narrative of the great opening battles in France.. All this new matter, which includes all the pages devoted to the Battle of the Marne, has hitherto only appeared in a one volume edition which was of necessity very considerably abridged…”
Both volumes, which includes the new material as detailed above by Churchill comes in the original blue publisher’s boards with blind stamp decoration of Churchill and facsimile signature to the front and gilt lettering the spines.
Both volumes are structurally very sound and in overall Very Good condition with dust marks to the boards
Volume 1 has 718 numbered pages, top edge tinted blue; a wonderful frontispiece of a young Winston Churchill in military dress uniform with medals; and 17 maps and illustrations. The pages are in overall Very Good condition being tightly bound into the book and with light to medium occasional spotting
Volume 2, after the Contents and list of Maps and Illustrations starts at page number 719 (where Volume 1 left off) and finishes at page number 1477. The top edge of the pages in this volume is tinted blue; and there are approximately 41 maps and illustrations in this volume. The pages in this volume are also in Very Good condition with light and occasional spotting
This is a stunningly detailed two volume Winston Churchill book
